Charity appeals for donations after fire causes severe damage
A charity has appealed for help in repairing their outdoor learning area, after it was destroyed by vandals.
A fire was started at the Scottish Waterways Trust’s Falkirk Wheel base last week, which caused serious damage to equipment.
They’re now asking the public for donations to help them create a new outdoor learning space.
Since 2010, over 700 young people have taken part in a Scottish Waterways Trust employability programme along Scotland’s canal network.
Trust Chief Executive, Karen Moore said, “Outdoor learning is what really sets us apart from other training providers, but we still need an element of classroom based work, this has now been destroyed.
“It will have an impact on our ability to deliver training so we need to get something in place again as soon as possible. This was a community resource to benefit local people and it is local people who will be missing out until we can find a suitable replacement.
“We would be grateful for any help in getting something a little more permanent built.”
The Trust are also appealing to any local businesses that may have unused storage containers that they would like to donate.
