Damian Green meets with Stirling Council with City Deal talks “progressing well”
First Secretary of State Damian Green has met with Stirling Council officials as negotiations continue on the City Region Deal.
Local authority leader Scott Farmer says talks between the UK and Scottish Governments “are progressing well”.
The Stirling and Clackmannanshire City Deal was backed for funding in the Chancellor’s Autumn Statement last year.
It’s hoped the money will be used to finance a series of regeneration projects across the local area.
Council Leader Scott Farmer said, “Our City Region Deal will make sure that Stirling becomes a place of opportunity for all, as well as a world class destination of choice for business and tourism.
“I am grateful to the First Secretary of State for taking the time to visit us to hear about our plans and to see first-hand the positive impact this could have for our region.
“The negotiations with Scottish and UK Governments are progressing well and we are working towards a Heads of Terms Agreement.”
