Stirling city centre transport plans unveiled

Stirling Council’s announced plans to make big changes to the city centre’s roads.

The proposals would see a new link road through the Council’s Viewforth site – connecting Kings Park and Stirling South.

The local authority say it’ll make walking and cycling in the area easier.

There’ll be drop-in sessions next week to review the plans.

Councillor Jim Thomson, convenor of the Environment and Housing Committee, said: “We have been discussing plans for a new road on the Viewforth site for a number of years.

“Now we hope to take it forward as part of an exciting package of measures to make the city centre and the neighbourhoods to the south of it, places for people, as well as traffic.

“A key part of this will be engaging with the public, showing them our proposals and getting feedback on these plans.

“The drop-ins will be open to everyone and we’re asking the community to come along and talk to us about these proposals.”

The community events start with two drop-ins on November 13 and 14 at Braehead Primary before moving on to the Council Chambers at Old Viewforth on November 16 and 17.
