Murray Eases Past Ferrero
02 Jul 09 - Sports
Andy Murray made light work of Juan Carlos Ferrero in the quarter-finals at Wimbledon, defeating the Spaniard in straight sets.
There was no sign that Murray's Monday night epic against Stanislas Wawrinka was affecting the number three seed, as he put on an impressive display on Centre Court.
Murray started steadily, taking the first set 7-5 and never looking like being put under any serious pressure.
The beginning of the second set was a different story, with Ferrero coming out in confident mood.
The former world number one broke Murray's first service game, and looked eager to make a match of it.
He led 3-1, and that forced Murray to raise his game, breaking the Spaniard twice to win five games in a row, and with it the set 6-3.
The third set was a very one-sided affair, with Murray proving too strong for the wilting Ferrero.
The British number one played some blistering winners and wrapped up the set 6-2.
The win means Murray is into semi-finals for the first time at the All England Club, where he'll face Andy Roddick in the semi-final on Friday.
