2nd Ashes Test: England Dominate Morning Session On Day Two
31 Jul 09 - Sports
Graham Onions and James Anderson claimed three and four wickets respectively at Edgbaston to leave Australia struggling on 203/8 at lunch.
The tourists resumed on 126/1 but Onions immediately struck for England, taking two wickets with the opening two balls of the day.
Opener Shane Watson was first to go - trapped lbw for 62 - and then Mike Hussey was clean bowled without troubling the scorers.
Australia captain Ricky Ponting hit 38 of 47 balls but he was then caught out by Matt Prior to give Onions his third wicket of the morning.
The conditions were perfect for swing bowling and Anderson took full advantage, removing Michael Clarke, Marcus North, Mitchell Johnson and Graham Manou in quick succession.
England picked up 7 wickets in the session for just 77 runs.
