Appeal after barn fire in Maddison

The fire led to the death of a calf.

Thu Jul 22 2010 - 15:19

Police are appealing for informaton following a fire in a barn in Maddison that led to the death of a calf.
The incident took place on Friday July 16th around 7pm at Park Farm.

The fire broke out in the upper level of the barn which caused the cattle, who were kept on the ground floor, to stampede.

The calf was injured and had to be put down.

Police believe the fire was started deliberately and are appealing for anyone who may have seen something suspicious to get in touch.

Community officer Constable Walter Robb said: “Following investigations by the fire service and police, we believe the fire was started deliberately. I’d be keen to speak to anyone with any information at all about suspicious activity in the area of the barn, which is in a reasonably remote location.

“The area has in the past been used by youths drinking and we were keen to trace the person or persons responsible for this incident.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Central Scotland Police on 01786 456 000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
