Urgent appeal for Falkirk foodbank donations

A local foodbank has issued an urgent appeal for donations.

Falkirk Foodbank say their supplies of several essential items are "very low".

They provided 7,000 food parcels last year across the Falkirk area.

Speaking to Central FM, Harrison Crawford from the group said:

"I am asking local people to support us with food donations. Over the last year we have provided 7,000 emergency food parcels to people in the Falkirk district. That is equivalent to 150,000 emergency meals. Many households, often with children, come to us facing sudden financial crisis.

This could be caused by illness, benefit delays, debt or just simply not having enough income to cover rising living costs. A food parcel can make a real difference in those moments. It helps families get through a difficult week while they work with support services to stabilise their situation.

Right now, we especially need donations of long life items such as pasta, rice, tinned meats, custard and other toiletries. If you're able to help, you can donate at your local supermarket or contact us directly. Your support helps us make sure that no one in our community has to face hunger alone. Thank you."

The items they need most at the moment are:
• Custard
• Peas
• Potatoes (tinned)
• Long-life milk
• Cartons of whole juice
• Diluting juice
• Tinned meats (stew, bolognese, chilli, meatballs, etc.)
• General toiletries
