Remains of missing farmer discovered

The remains of a farmer who'd been missing from Carron Valley for 13 years have been found in woodland in Fintry.

Thomas Robb, who would now have been 87, was reported missing in August 2012 after he didn't return home from a visit to Duncarron Fort.

A major search took place.

Police say they're not treating the death as suspicious.

A Police Scotland statement said:

"Police received a report of human remains found in woodland near Fintry around 10.50am on Monday, 8 September, 2025.
 
Formal identification has now taken place and the remains have been confirmed as those of Thomas Robb, 87, who had been missing from the Carron Valley area since August 2012.
 
His family has been informed and they are being supported by specially trained officers.
 
The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
