Rise in foodbank support this Christmas

A Stirling foodbank say they'll be helping around 1,000 people over the festive period.

The figure has risen over recent years, driven by the cost of living crisis.

Start Up Stirling provide vital help to people across the area who are struggling.

Key items they are after include tinned pasta, coffee, cereal bars, tinned meat, tinned soup and cup a soup.

Julie Christie is from Start Up Stirling:

"I think so many people, all of us, are facing challenges about how much it costs to eat, how much it costs to heat our homes. So we all face these challenges but then equally when you have lost your job or it's just an extra bill has come in from somewhere you weren't anticipating, it just makes it just that little bit harder to make ends meet over the winter months."

"We're told that without [the support] people would be going hungry over the Christmas period. So that's why we really want to thank everybody who has supported us for our Christmas appeal, but throughout the year, to make a difference to help people living in the local area."

"We're happy to always accept food, as you can imagine we're always busy. So the things we need most this winter are tinned pasta, coffee, cereal bars, tinned meat and soup and cup of soup."

"Anything that you can help us with we will be delighted to accept donations of food or finances. Thank you very much for all your support so far this year."
