Rise in Stirling assaults

There has been a rise in the number of violent attacks recorded across Stirling.

Data from a Police Scotland report shows 304 non-sexual crimes of violence were recorded between June and August.

That's up by nearly 20% on the same period last year.

The figure is also 23.7% higher than the five year average.

It includes 16 incidents of emergency service workers being assaulted.

239 common assaults were logged between June and August - up 25% from last year.

The figures will be discussed by Stirling Council on Thursday.
