Asylum seeker jailed after Falkirk attacks

An asylum seeker, who sexually assaulted two women in Falkirk, has been jailed for four years.

Muhammad Sheikhi carried out both attacks in the early hours of November 30th last year, in Kerse Lane.

The 23-year-old had been a resident at the Cladhan hotel.

Both of his victims were in their early 20s, and both had been walking home alone after nights out in the town centre.

Speaking after the conviction earlier this year, Detective Chief Inspector Scott Roxburgh, of Forth Valley CID, said: “Sheikhi will now face the consequences of his despicable actions, and I hope this brings comfort to the two women.

“I also hope this conviction gives confidence to anyone who is the victim of sexual crime to come forward. We will thoroughly investigate reports made to us and we have specially trained officers to provide support.
