Cornton Road to reopen after disruption

After more than ten weeks of disruption, a key Stirling road is finally reopening today.

Scottish Water had to carry out emergency repairs on a sewer on Cornton Road.

The route had been shut since 8th March.

Concerns were raised about disruption - and the area being "cut off" due to the closure.

Scottish Water say the lane closure and temporary lights are required in order to allow operatives to carry out final reinstatement of the work area. This is expected to be completed before the end of May.

A Scottish Water spokesperson said: “Our operatives have been working hard under difficult conditions to carry out these essential repairs as quickly and as safely as possible.

“We are fully aware of the disruption these works have been causing and have listened to the community about the need to reopen the road.

“We remain extremely grateful for the patience, understanding and cooperation of the community and all those affected.”
