A man has died after being hit by a train in Cornton.
Emergency services were called to the incident just after 8pm last night.
Police are not treating the death as suspicious.
Train services were suspended, and the road was closed for around three hours after the incident.
A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to the line in Stirling at 8.01pm yesterday (14 May) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
"Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a report will be prepared for the Procurator Fiscal."
Stirling and Strathallan MP Chris Kane said:
“Last night’s incident was a tragic and deeply distressing event. My heartfelt condolences are with the family and loved ones of the individual who lost their life, as well as the passengers and crew who witnessed it.
I had previously been assured by Scottish Water that, in the event of an incident requiring the closure of the level crossing in Cornton, Network Rail would ensure emergency vehicles retained access. However, based on the images from last night, it is clear that emergency vehicles would have been unable to cross.
While I understand this was an unavoidable tragic event, Network Rail, Stirling Council and Scottish Water need to reflect on how the situation was handled, and what lessons will be learned to ensure emergency access is guaranteed should a similar incident occur in future.”
