12 year old girl in critical condition after being hit by car

A 12 year old girl is in a critical condition in hospital after being hit by a car in Stenhousemuir.

She was struck by a Ford Focus on King Street at around 3pm yesterday afternoon.

Police are appealing for witnesses.

In a statement, Police Scotland said:

"Road Policing Officers at Stirling are appealing for information after a 12-year-old girl was struck by a car on King Street in Stenhousemuir on Monday, 17 January.

Around 3pm on Monday, the 12-year-old girl was crossing King Street near to its junction with Union Street when she was struck by a Ford Focus being driven by a 35-year-old man.

Police and Ambulance attended and the pedestrian was taken by Ambulance to Forth Valley Royal Hospital then later transferred to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.  Hospital staff describe her condition as critical.

Sergeant David Ross is appealing for information.  He said:  “This is a busy area and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the crash who has not yet spoken to police to contact us.  I would also appeal to drivers on the road at the time who have dash-cam footage to come forward too.

“Anyone with information that may assist our investigation into this crash should contact 101 with reference number 1792 of 17 January.”
