State-of-the-art sport and leisure facility plans for Falkirk

Inside Grangemouth Sports Complex

The site could be built in the centre of the town within the next five years.

A new state-of-the-art sports and leisure facility could be built in Falkirk in the next 5 years, which could cost around £35 million.

Meanwhile there are proposals to include another 'major venue' in Grangemouth with secondary facilities in Braes, Denny and Bo'ness.

A cross-party group of Councillors have been working on proposals for more than six months as part of a Sport and Leisure Policy Development Panel (PDP).

They'll meet next week at the Executive Committee meeting to discuss plans.

The overhaul is part of efforts to modernise the town's sport and leisure provision. In addition to addressing the current challenges posed by the ageing and deteriorating facilities around Falkirk.

The local authority say they will make "every effort" to keep Mariner Centre and Grangemouth Sports Complex open until the new leisure hub is ready to open.

The Mariner Centre and Grangemouth Sports Complex are currently running at a deficit of £4.7 million per annum (2022/23 figures).
