Schools in Stirling to close due to strike action

Schools and nurseries will shut to pupils from Tuesday 26 September until Thursday 28 September.

Following the rejection of a pay offer made to unions on 14 September, Stirling Council confirmed closures to schools and nurseries to pupils from Tuesday 26 September until Thursday 28 September, as a result of planned industrial action by the UNISON Union.

The local authority say some schools and nurseries will be able to open or partially open during this time. Schools and nurseries will directly inform parents of specific arrangements.

The industrial action involves staff who provide catering, cleaning, janitorial and admin support within schools and early learning settings. It also includes staff who support children and young people in schools and provide early learning childcare in nurseries.

Free school meal provision for entitled pupils will be made in the form of payment.

All schools will reopen as normal on Friday 29 September.

Letters have been sent to parents and guardians in advance of the anticipated disruption.

Stirling Council say, "the situation remains fluid and a further update will be issued should this change."
