Thousands left without water in Stirling as burst water main causes supply problems

Around 6,500 homes in Stirling have been affected by the burst pipes since Sunday evening.

A water main burst on Sunday evening leaving thousands of households without water in parts of Stirling.

The postcode regions of FK7 and FK8 are said to be most affected.

Scottish Water say they have repaired the initial burst, which was first reported on Sunday evening. Following that repair, a secondary burst incident occurred leading to further supply issues.

The organisation say they are working to resolve the issue, with some supply being restored to affected households.

A water bottle collection point is available at Stirling High School this morning (Monday 8th) for those who are still without supply.

A Scottish Water spokesperson said: “Our team has been closely monitoring the recovery of the water network overnight, via the alternative network supply arrangements that were put in place yesterday evening.

“While this has restored some supply to many of the affected homes and businesses, some customers may continue to experience no water, lower than normal pressure or discolouration.

“We are focused on completing the second repair that is needed as quickly as possible, but would like to apologise to customers still experiencing disruption to their service this morning. We are taking steps to offer an alternative supply of water to customers who need it and further details will follow as soon as possible.”
