Boy, 4, dies after being hit by bus as he walked out of hospital in Margate, Kent

A four-year-old boy has died after being struck by a bus outside a hospital in Kent.

Zaahir Jan had been visiting his grandmother at the Queen Elizabeth, Queen Mother Hospital in Margate when the incident happened just after 4pm on Thursday.

Kent Police said the bus, a white single-decker vehicle, was travelling near the entrance to the A&E department when Zaahir left the hospital on foot and was struck.

He was taken inside the hospital but died shortly after.

His mother, Azaria Green, described her son as a "sweet, funny boy with a cheeky smile", on a GoFundMe page.

"Everyone is devastated, but that word doesn't feel like enough to explain how we are all feeling," she wrote.

"Our sweet, funny boy with a cheeky smile that could make anyone's heart full. The smile that we can't see again.

"I didn't even get to tell you how much I love you."

Investigators from Kent Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.

Witnesses, including passengers travelling on the bus who have not yet spoken to the police, are urged to contact the force.
