Minute silence for Stirling teenager

A minute silence is being held today in memory of a 16-year-old.

Murray Dowey took his own life last week.

Stirling Albion will pause before their game with Hamilton later.

The club say the death is "heartbreaking".

Anyone who is feeling distressed can call Samaritans on 116 123.

A statement from the club says: “Everyone at Stirling Albion Football Club would like to express their condolences to the family and friends of 16-year-old fan, Murray Dowey, who tragically took his own life last week.

“Losing someone so young is incredibly heartbreaking, and the thoughts of all at the Club are with his family and friends at this extremely difficult time.

“There will be a minute’s applause in Murray’s memory on Saturday before kick-off in the match against Hamilton and we would ask all supporters to join in to show the support within the Stirling Albion Football Club community.

“If anyone struggling with their mental health needs support or someone to talk to, there are helplines and organisations available which can provide assistance.”
