Stirling schools to shut on Tuesday

Schools across Stirling will close next week due to strike action by teachers.

All primary, secondary, and additional needs schools will shut on Tuesday.

They will re-open on Wednesday.

Teachers in Falkirk are walking out on 27th January, with staff in Clackmannanshire striking on 1st February.

In a statement, Stirling Council said:

"Stirling Council can confirm that all of its primary schools, secondary schools and Additional Support Needs provisions (including Castleview Nursery) will be closed to pupils on Tuesday 24 January, as a result of industrial action by the Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS), the Association of Head Teachers and Deputes Scotland (AHDS).

Stand-alone nurseries and nursery classes will remain open as normal.

The industrial action is part of a national dispute over pay for teaching staff.

Secondary schools will make individual arrangements for prelims scheduled for this date.

Free school meal provision for entitled pupils will be made in the form of payment on Tuesday 24 January.

All primary schools will reopen as normal on Wednesday 25 January.

Letters have been sent to parents and guardians in advance of the anticipated disruption."
